§  Adopted geographic information system and remote sensing applications for development of strategic plans for area expansion, impact assessment and formulation of technological innervations for climate change management
§  Establishment of Bio-diversity parks and implementation of bio-diversity programs through the establishment of progeny germplasm banks and hybridization blocks in perineal horticulture plants including promotion of conservation plans
§  Provided technical guidance for the development and management of over 400 public

sector   multipurpose    horticulture   farms   towards   management   analysis   of   techno economical viability and linkages with private and corporate partners
§  Extensive  Research  &  Development  Initiatives   Mobilized external funding of over

INR 437 Million to support 63 Research Projects from various State & National level Institutions (Annexure-II)

§  Biotech Labs Involved in establishing 11 Biotech Labs in Karnataka State, sponsored both by Public and Private Sector participation, with focus on  hi-tech  initiatives. Popular initiatives like-producing quality planting material through tissue culture and to undertake need based research.
§  Plant Protection Forecasting Centres - Guided for establishment of 8 Plant Disease Forecasting Centres across different campuses of State Farm Universities
§  Oil Palm Development

§  Isolated and popularized a new oil palm cultivar Taraka” suited for area expansion is 19 districts adopted for 4000 hectares.
§  Standardized Quality Oil Palm sprouts production, ensuring over 95% purity, endorsed by India Institute of Oil Palm Research in 2010-11.
§  Pilot standardization of GIS supported Oil Palm Plantation Suitability Cadastral Mapto Karnataka State, an exhaustive technical guide for the field professionals.

§  Softwood Grafting Techniques  -Standardization of softwood grafting technique for commercial fruit production of Mango & Sapota in the State Horticulture Farms.
§  Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Established the unique large scale Production & Processing Unit dedicated for R&D medicinal and aromatic plants in public sector, spread across 180 acres, supporting over 50 commercial plant types
§  Assessment and implementation of water conservation and management  plans, application of agro-engineering technologies and mechanization, supporting  R&D  for farms scale storage and primary processing of horticulture produce
